Tōfu ya Ryōri Yomoyamo 豆腐屋料理 四方八方

Last night, after talking about it for several months, my wife and I finally walked a few meters down the street to try the fairly new restaurant Tōfu ya Ryōri Yomoyamo. It is located in Ningyōchō, on Amazakiyokochō in the space formerly occupied by Sukeroku, a long-time yakitori restaurant that closed its doors a while back. And despite the presence of tōfu and yuba making equipment in a small room facing the sidewalk, the cuisine turned out to be mostly Okinawan. Tōfu was featured in several dishes, including a serving of a very delicious chicken and yuba. But overall the theme was Okinawa, including awamori, Okinawan shōchū made with Thai rice.

The prices here are quite reasonable, just over ¥10,000 for the two of us, including two drinks each. They are also in the middle of a summer food event featuring foods from six different regions of Okinawa, something we were not aware of until leaving (it continues until September 17).

I am quite sure this will not be our last visit a surprisingly good regional restaurant!
